Welcome to Spring BreakCamp 2017!

The Sienna Ranch staff has a very exciting line up of spring breakcamps planned. Whether your child is in our Ranch Equestrian or Everything Ranch Day Campsor an Afternoon Special Interest Camp such as Archery, Woodshop and Natural Building, Art and Animals or Pottery, eachday is choc full of learning and fun. Below are the important items you need to know for our five-day week of fun. Questions?

SummerCampDropoff and Pickup Times

Time Program Location Information
8:00am Early Birds Ranch Play Backyard When you come to the entrance of the property, walk through the general camp check-in zone and follow the mulch path to the right of our gate and find our Early Birds campers behind the blue door.
9:00am Morning Camp Drop off ProgramZone Park your car and escort your camper(s) through the parking lot to our programzone. Confirm your program selection the first day with our administration and we’ll record general attendance here all days following. Plan to stay with your camper(s)until our gate opens at 9:00am. We usually start taking attendance a few minutes before the gate opens so you can plan on a timely 9:00am parking lot departure. Our instructorsare preparing for a fun morning of program at this time, so if you need to drop off before 9:00am please enroll in our Early Birds programming.
1:00pm Morning Camp Pickup Program Zone Park your car and walk to the Program Zone to greet your camper(s). Our staff require campers to visually see their escort before being allowed to stand in line to check out with administration. Thanks for waiting outside the gateas we record camper departure, and we’ll bring the happy campers to you!
2:00pm Afternoon Camp Drop Off & Ranch Play Pickup Program Zone DROP OFF: Park your car and escort your camper(s) through the parking lot to our programzone. Confirm your program selection the first day with our administration and we’ll record general attendance here all days following. Plan to stay with your camper(s)until our gate opens at 2:00pm. We usually start taking attendance a few minutes before the gate opens so you can plan on a timely 2:00pm parking lot departure.PICK UP:Simultaneous Ranch Play Pickup happens in our Program Zone at the little apple tree/rose bush threshold. Please make sure to walk to the check out area so our Ranch Play staff may dismiss happy campers to you.
5:00pm Afternoon Camp Pickup Program Zone Park your car and walk to the Program Zone to greet your camper(s). Our staff require campers to visually see their escort before being allowed to stand in line to check out with administration. Thanks for waiting outside the gateas we record camper departure, and we’ll bring the happy campers to you!

 

What to Bring

  • FOOD: everyone should have at least a snack– pack a hiking-friendly lunch too if you are here for a morning program
  • WATER: send a refillable water bottle labeled with your camper’sname
  • WARMLAYERS / SUN PROTECTION: we run program rain or shine and ask that students are ready to be outside the whole program. A sun hat is handy for hiking comfort!
  • BACKPACK: a simple bookbag works great and allows for hands-free hiking
  • RANCH-FRIENDLY CLOTHES:please dress students in clothes that are OK to get soiled with dirt/mud or paint. We’ll use smocks to avoid permanent stains as much as possible when painting.

What to Leave At Home

  • CANDY / SODA / CHEWING GUM
  • ELECTRONICS including phones
  • MONEY
ANIMAL SAFETY: Senna Ranch kindly requests that items that create micro-trash like drinks with straw wrappers either be unwrapped at home or are left out of lunches since they often blow away from the group and into our animal pens, making our ranch friends very sick. Thanks for your help keeping our herd healthy!

Sienna Ranch Equestrian Footwear Requirement

We care about your toes! To keep feet safe, Ranch Equestrian Campers, Fun with Horses Campersare required to wear horse-safe footwear in order to be allowed to groom, and work near horses. Horse-safe footwear also allows campers to ride with stirrups safely during mounted activities. Read more on our SRRHS Page.

Participation Agreements

Please review the following behavior expectations with your camper(s) prior to the first day of program.
Our goals for program isto ensure campers:
  1. Learn
  2. Have fun
  3. Stay Safe
All campersare required to follow four simple rules:
  1. Be Respectful and Courteous (to animals, people, and earth)
  2. Listen to instructor
  3. Stop at Gates
  4. Stay with your group
If your child cannot follow these rules, the following is our system of consequences:
  1. Gentle Verbal Reminder
  2. Verbal Warning
  3. Time to think away from group for 1-4 minutes
  4. Time to think in the yurt office for 10-15 min with supervision (and likely a call home)
  5. Parents called to pick up child and behavior contract developed to outline expectations for continuation in Sienna Ranch Programming.
Please note: Our goal is to NOT have to ever use our system of consequences beyond #2, so if you know your child will have a difficult time with these rules, please talk to them ahead of time. If there is anything you can share with us about your child that will help us be better prepared to help them have a successful camp experience, please feel free to let us know by email or by calling us during business hours.

Site Logistics : Parking

Sienna Ranch has full use of the parking lot for camp, so you may park in any space. However, the lot will be full! Please consider carpooling if possible, and when waiting in the lot remember that we are a no-idle zone. Thank you for turning off your engine.

Site Logistics: Lost and Found

Please be sure to label ALL of your child’s belongings. The Lost and Found Bin will be kept in a weather-proof treasure chest in the Program Zone outside the Green Yurt. We’ll do our best to display it at the end ofthe weekand reserve the right to sell unclaimed items the following quarter in a Used Gear Sale.

Allergies and Special Concerns

We collected basic health history during your initial registration and pass this along to our staff. If you have any extra information you’ve not yet told us that you’d like us to include on your class rosters, please email the office at [email protected].
It’s very helpful for us to know about the following:
  • PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS
  • FOOD ALLERGIES
  • LEARNING / BEHAVIORAL / EMOTIONAL EXCEPTIONALITIES

Special Program Notes:Early Pickup

Emergencies Only

In general, we do not allow early pick up since it alters the flow of camp for everyone. Exceptions will be made for emergencies. Please note that we cannot guarantee that your child will be anywhere near the entrance of the ranch if you come early without advanced notice. As best as possible, please call or email the office so we can try to give the instructor as much advanced notice as possible.

For afternoon camps only, early pickup at 3:30pm is available upon reservation. Please fill out the form belowwith at least 24 hours notice, otherwise we cannot guarantee your camper will be available for early dismissal.

Special Program Notes:Late Pickup Fees: Please note that while we do appreciate a call or voice mail if you are running late, we will likely be away from the phone actively dismissing campers and may not receive your message immediately. Thank you for being on time.

Special Program Notes: Extended Care Services

ADD Early Birds (8:00-9:00am)

$50/week or $15/day

An option for morning campers, this is a flexible dropoff period for families who need childcarebefore morning camp starts. Campers play in the backyard, read stories or draw with an instructor. Cost for Early Birds is $50 for the week or $15 to drop in for one day.

ADD Ranch Play (1:00-2:00pm)

$50/week or $15/day

Free for full-day campers and available as an add-on to morning-only campers, this is free choice time after camp finishes for those who want to be at the ranch just a little longer. Instructors will have games, stories and crafts from which kids can choose each day.

If you would like to add either Ranch Play or Early Birds services, please contact the office. Drop-in Early Birds and Ranch Play will be available on a space available basis.

Special Program Notes: Calling During Camp

If you need to get a message to your camper or theirinstructor, please call (925)283-6311. We always have a staff in the office during program hours. If you receive the voice mail and have an urgent message to share– our voice mail will instruct you to call our Director or Owner at that time.
