Together, you’ll explore the ranch, meet friendly farm animals, play in the garden, and gather for a cozy storybook circle time. This adult-and-child experience is the perfect introduction to Sienna Ranch programming and a delightful foundation for our Early Childhood Ranch Play (3/4 year old) and Junior Rancher (Prek-1st) classes.
Sprouts Days are scheduled as a group package for 5 to 7 adult/child attendees, making it a wonderful outing for friends or playgroups to enjoy together. Spend a memorable day connecting with nature and sharing the joy of discovery!

Field trip offerings
Field trips designed for ages 4 and up can choose from any of the following Field Trip themes.

Learn to care for our garden, visit the Food Forest and enjoy the bountiful harvest! The class will incorporate hands-on garden work where we will learn seasonal garden care including seeding, transplanting, harvesting, watering, and building healthy soil. They will also learn how valuable worms are to our compost!
Interact closely with our ranch animals while exploring questions such as “Why are domesticated animals important to humans?” and “What adaptations help these animals thrive?” Activities include brushing goats, grooming a pony, collecting chicken eggs, and processing sheep wool. Participants will develop practical skills in animal care while fostering empathy and responsibility.
Build a shelter that protects us from the elements of rain, wind, and cold, and practice this essential outdoor preparedness skill. Students will tackle questions like ‘How does the size and shape of a shelter impact its warmth and stability’. Working in teams, they will assess weather conditions, surrounding terrain, and available materials to build a functional debris shelter, while developing problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
Discover the local ecology and the seasonal behavior of regional wildlife. Allowing our senses to lead the way as we explore the hills looking for evidence left by our wild animal friends. Investigate crevices in trees, peek into a maze of vole runways, dissect scat, or walk like a deer and ponder questions like ‘which animal was here?’, ‘where did they go?’, ‘where did they come from?’ and ‘what were they doing here?’.
Learn the essential survival skill of building and maintaining a fire, a practice that has played a crucial role in human history. As part of the hands-on experience, they will pop popcorn over the fire, deepening their understanding of fire’s practical uses. Emphasizing fire safety, participants will learn important precautions and practices to ensure a safe environment. With our covered fire-building platform, this activity is perfect for any weather, rain or shine! (Note: This is a seasonal activity and will be restricted during fire season)
Learn the basics of shooting a bow and arrow in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. Safety, equipment, form, and technique will all be introduced, with ample time for shooting practice. Archery is a full-body activity that builds coordination, strength, and balance, offering a great physical challenge. With a fully covered shooting line, classes can be held rain or shine!
Meet our baby-doll sheep and discover how to care for them while learning about their anatomy. Get hands-on experience in wool processing, from feeling raw wool to crafting a special take-home project. Along the way, students will explore how wool is transformed into everyday items. Crafts are modified to fit each age group, making it an exciting and educational adventure for all!
